A big-hearted have been “blown away” by the response to a sponsored head shave to show solidarity with those suffering from cancer.
Dungiven hairdresser, Stacy McGrotty, along with her dad, Frank, and friend, Collette Mullan, had their heads shaved to raise money for Marie Cuire.
Stacy, from Limavady, works in Monica’s Hair Salon in Dungiven, and along with her father always wanted to do something for charity.
So, she thought that a charity shave would be a great way to get her work colleagues involved too.
She said: “Every family has been affected by cancer in some way. In work, so many of our clients’ have lost loved ones to the disease. I thought that a sponsored head shave would be a great way to get them all involved.”
Speaking about her new hair-do, she said: “At the start it was hard to get used to, it’s definitely a lot colder.
“However we decided to do this to raise money and show out solidarity with cancer patients but there are so many people out there that don’t have a choice,” she said.
Although a final amount has not yet been confirmed, Stacy says that she has been blown away by all the support they have received.
She said: “It was back in July when we made the decision to do the shave. Since then everyone has been very supportive. I would especially like to say a big thanks to all the girls at Monica’s Hair Salon and of course all our clients. We have been blown away.”
