BREAKING NEWS: Man abducted from his Derry home found shot in Dungiven

A man from Derry, believed to be in his mid-20s, has been found shot in Dungiven tonight..

The man was discovered around 8.30pm in Hass Road area.

He has been taken to Altnagelvin Hospital.

It is understood he was shot in the legs and that his condition is not life-threatening.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Sean McGlinchey was one of the first on the scene.

He said he spoke to the victim in the back of an ambulance.

Cllr McClinchey said the victim told him he had been abducted from his home in Derry.

Police remain at the scene which has been sealed off.

Cllr McClinchey spoke to Co Derry Post editor, Orla Mullan, at the scene - see video.

It is the second shooting incident in the Co Derry town within eight days.

Last Wednesday night, a woman escaped injury when armed and masked men fired a number of shots after threatening her at her home in the Ard Na Smoll area.

It is not known if the two incidents are related.
