A big-hearted young Derry girl is to get her beautiful long hair cut to help youngsters battling cancer.
Ten-year-old Tanya O’Kane (pictured) is hoping to raise £350 for the Little Princess Trust, the charity which provides wigs free of charge to boys and girls who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
Tanya has set up her own online fundraising page and has raised over £100.
Ellie thanked those who were helping her fundraising effort.
She said: “I have been growing my hair for a long time, so that I can donate it to the Little Princess Trust.
“I am trying to raise £350 so that my hair can be made into a wig for somebody who has lost all their hair to cancer.
“I am very grateful for any help you can give me to make this possible, and help someone less fortunate than me feel a bit better about themself.”
One donor, Gail Smallwoods, said: “Your so brave Ellie!! What an amazing thing to do for a great cause. Can't wait to see your new hairstyle.”
