New ‘Keep Clear’road markings have been placed on the Crescent Link Roundabout to aid residents from Summer Meadows, Blackthorn Manor and Carn Manor.
Commenting, the SDLP Councillor Martin Reilly has welcomed the move, adding that people living in the area 'all too often feel trapped in their homes as they get caught up with the Christmas congestion at this popular retail park'.
Councillor Reilly said: “It’s very frustrating for people to be caught up in and affected by a queue of traffic that they have no intention of being a part of.
"I welcome this small but important step by DfI Roads aimed at relieving congestion at this busy Retail Park in the Waterside. With Christmas approaching this is a sensible action that I along with residents from Summer Meadows, Blackthorn Manor and Carn Manor had been calling for.
"For far too long people living in this part of the city felt trapped in as shoppers blocked their exit path.
"I would appeal to everyone using this location to pay attention to these marking and keep these exits clear.”
