Derry Girls star officially opens new Lidl store in Magherafelt

Actress Jamie-Lee O’Donnell was on hand today to officially open Lidl’s newly refurbished store in Magherafelt.

12 additional jobs have been created in the locality as a result of the remodel, bringing the total number of people employed in the store to 31.

Lidl first opened in Magherafelt in 2004 and the remodel of the store took five months to complete. The store now boasts a new architectural design and spacious interior layout, meaning Lidl can offer customers a greater shopping experience with the same great value.

To celebrate the opening, Lidl welcomed representatives from St Mary’s Primary School and the Rainey Endowed School in Magherafelt to the store and presented them with a donation of £250 each.

Speaking at the Lidl Magherafelt reopening, Richard Mailey, Store Manager said: “We are delighted to reopen our store in Magherafelt today after 5 months’ construction. Our customers will hopefully love our new store layout which will offer them a greater shopping experience as well as a wide range of high quality products at fantastic value. The whole team is looking forward to welcoming both new and existing customers alike into the store over the coming weeks.”

Derry Girls actress Jamie Lee O’Donnell, who plays Michelle in the popular Channel Four show, commented: “I’m thrilled to be at Lidl in Magherafelt today to help them open their new look store. Magherafelt is a vibrant community and it is fantastic to see new jobs being created for people in the area.”
