Community wardens withdrew their service last night in Galliagh after their van was attacked by stone-throwers.
The crew had been responding to a 'vulnerable resident' who, they say, is constantly being tormented by young people in the green area between Fergleen/Galliagh Park.
After being stoned, they left the area - and say the issue is now a police matter.
A spokesperson for Outer North Community Safety Team said: "The service has now been withdrawn from the area as it has became a police matter due to the van sustaining damage, thankfully the Warden team are ok.
"Can parents or carers please ensure your young people are not involved in this as they have been lighting fires and once again causing community concerns for everyone, the fire service are now in attendance and Outer North Community Safety Team would ask people to prevent these services from being targeted."
