A charity night which was to be held this weekend to raise funds for an organisation who helped bring the remains of a Derry woman home following her tragic death last year has been cancelled.

Marie Coyle (pictured above) died suddenly whilst on a family holiday in Lanzarote in June last year.

The Delacroix on the Buncrana Road had been set to host a charity night on Saturday night in memory of Marie, with all proceeds going towards The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

However, Marie's family have been forced to cancel the event as the bad weather is expected to continue over the weekend.

"We didn't think it was fair to ask people to travel out in that weather," a spokesperson for the family said.

"We hope to reschedule the night at a later date."
