The SDLP have organised an event at the Maldron Hotel next week as part of the party's campaign to land a City Deal for Derry.
A party spokesperson said: "The lunchtime event will be held in Derry City Centre at the Maldron Hotel on Thursday, 22nd March at 1pm.We’re delighted that Inverness MP Drew Hendry [pictured] from the SNP has agreed to attend as our guest speaker.
"In 2016 Inverness, a city with a population of just under 50,000, was awarded a City Deal amounting to an investment of over £315 million in a range of areas including skills, infrastructure and housing. Drew has generously agreed to share with us the experience and insights of the Inverness City Deal.
"The SDLP believes that if we keep campaigning, and keep the pressure in the right places, a City Deal for Derry and Strabane is now within reach. The plan is already developed as part of the Council’s Strategic Growth Plan.
"Recently the SDLP used a meeting with the British Prime Minister Theresa May to keep up the pressure and momentum for a City Deal in Derry and Strabane. Having previously secured a commitment to a City Deal from her Secretary of State – now is the time to keep the pressure on."
