OVER 60 local businesses are set to raise money for Foyle Search and Rescue, after one of their boats and lifesaving equipment had been damaged.
It emerged on Thursday that over £5,000 worth of damage was caused to a Foyle Search and Rescue boat which was moored at the Queens Quay area of the city at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 7.
The boat had been active in an ongoing search of the river.
However, within hours of the news being made public, a fundraising event was being organised to pay for repairs to the vessel with 65 local businesses having to date pledged thir support.
The organisers of the fundraiser, the Limeleaf Café on the riverfront, have issued an open invite to all local business who wanted to contribute to get in touch with them.
