A 19-year-old man accused of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm with a baseball bat and assaulting police officers has been remanded in custody, at Derry Magistrate’s Court.

Eoin Collins, of Barrs Lane in the Hazelbank area of the city, has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assaulting three police officers and criminal damage of a PSNI vehicle on March 28.

The charges relate to an assault in the Barr’s Lane area of the city during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He also told the court that Collins had no bail address available to him ‘at this stage’.

The 19-year-old was remanded in custody and the case adjourned to a court sitting on April 26 when he will appear by way of video link.
