Five groups in Derry tackling sectarianism and promoting understanding across Northern Ireland are to share in funding distributed by the Community Relations Council on behalf of The Executive Office, it has been announced.

The funding is aligned with, and contributes to, the delivery of the NI Executive’s Together: Building a United Community strategy.

Thirty-three groups across Northern Ireland shared in over £1.2million in funding distributed by the Community Relations Council.

The Derry groups benefitting from the funding are St Columb’s Park House, the North West Play Resource Centre, YMCA, The Junction/ Holywell, and An Gaelaras.

Projects taking place over the next year in the Derry area include training and support provided by St Columb’s Park House for residents living in interface communities, North West Play Resource Centre’s collaborative project ‘Amazing the Space: Young Hearts for Peace and Prosperity’, YMCA’s engagement and building understanding initiatives, the Junction/Holywell’s pop-up democracy workshops and Troubles Museum and An Gaelaras’ ‘Hidden Heritage, Living Language’ resource.
