Two local primary schools have been successful in the second call for investment through the Governments School Enhancement Programme.

Local SDLP Education Spokesperson, Councillor John Boyle welcomed the news of Chapel Road Primary School and Greenhaw Primary School's success.

"I am delighted to hear that the Permanent Secretary for Education has announced that two local schools have been successful in their bids for financial support for capital development projects.

“This will mean that proposed building projects at Chapel Road Primary School and Greenhaw Primary School can progress through the business case, design and planning stages.

“I am delighted for the children, staff and parents associated with both schools. “Local children deserve the very best start in life and enhanced educational opportunity in built for purpose accommodation can go a considerable way to delivering on the promise that we know the current and future schoolchildren at these schools possess.

“However, it should not be forgotten that many other schools in the city and district also need urgent attention and I look forward to the day when other local schools will benefit from further investment in the future."
