Residents are concerned there could be further bonfires in Galliagh over the next few days.

This follows last night's fire, started by young people who had stockpiled pallets stolen from neighbouring businesses.

A stolen car [pictured] was burned in last night's blaze and there are concerns that children will now set fire to the remaining pallets.

The Outer North Community Safety team is to meet with statutory and housing agencies, the police and local councillors today, in a bid to tackle the problem.

The ONCS chair, Martin Connolly, said: "The residents and community are disgusted and are demanding the agencies step up and clear this site now of dozens of pallets."
