Court hears Derry murder case being dealt with by 'serious crime unit' in Belfast

The case of two brothers charged with murdering a man in Derry earlier this year is being dealt with by the ‘serious crime unit’ in Belfast, a court has heard.

Sean Anderson, 20, his brother Gary Anderson, 21, both of Grafton Street, are jointly charged with the murder of Karol Kelly (pictured above) on March 4 of this year.

The 35-year-old was killed in the early hours of that morning during an altercation on Grafton Street in the Rosemount area of the city.

A Public Prosecution Service (PPS) representative said the full file for the case had been received and allocated.
The court heard the case is being dealt with by the ‘serious crime unit’ in Belfast.

Representing both men, defence solicitor Kevin Casey asked for an update on the next occasion regarding any progress that has been made.

The case was taken four weeks to a court sitting on June 21 when both defendants will appear by way of video link from Hydebank prison.
