Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed confirmation that a bus turning lane will be provided for the Hawthorn Drive area.
Cllr. McGinley said: "For a considerable period of time I have been making representations on behalf of residents for the provision of a bus turning lane for the Hawthorn Estate.
"I have met on a number of aoccasions with DfI Roads, Housing Associations and Translink in an effort to find a solution and I am delighted to report that DfI Roads has included the provision of a turning lane as part of its 2018/19 programme.
"With the increasing number of houses being built on and adjacent to the Springtown Road it was essential that provision was made for public transport and this news will be warmly welcomed by residents in the area.
"I will now be contacting Translink to determine when and what level of bus service can be put in place."
