Touché… Derry student picks up top sports award

A Derry student at the University of Ulster’s Magee campus in the city has scooped a major sports award.

Fencer Jonathan Burnside picked up the President’s Plate award at the the Ulster University Students’ Union’s annual Colours Sports Awards ceremony held at the Titanic in Belfast.

The gala ceremony celebrated and rewarded the achievements of both individual and sporting teams at the university.

Jonathan, from Derry, was presented with the accolade for winning the most outstanding sports person awards at Magee.

He has represented both Ireland and Northern Ireland at international level.
