There has been an angry action after a cat was found with its ears cut off.
The cat (pictured) is currently being cared by the Rainbow Rehoming Centre who have named her “Leah.”
The Centre have revealed she was found yesterday, along with her two surviving kittens, in The Cross area following a phone call from a concerned member of the public about a stray cat that had been “hanging about” for quite some time.
A Centre spokesperson said: “We are appealing for people in the area to help with any information.
“She was found in the Ballynamore Road area with very badly injured ears along with her two surviving kittens.
“We have named her ‘Leah’ and she is receiving the necessary treatment. Any information please contact us.”
Sinn Fein Cllr Sandra Duffy has described those responsible as “sick.”
She added: “Animal cruelty cannot be tolerated.”
Hundreds have taken to social media to also vent their anger.
Marietta McNulty posted: : “What’s this world coming to… this is awful. Hopefully, someone will find a conscience and come forward with information.”
Jenny Horner put up: “What type of twisted psychopath does that? I can’t get my head around why and how anyone can hurt an animal. Evil. I hope she and her kittens are rehomed and loved forever.”
