The funeral of Derry murder victim Gerard Quinn will take place this afternoon.
The 24-year-old (pictured) died in Altnagelvin Hospital on Sunday morning last, six hours after being stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle at a house party at Milldale Crescent in the Currynierin area of the city.
A 16-year-old boy, from the Top of the Hill area, is currently in custody after appearing in court during the week charged with his murder.
The youth is also accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Mr Quinn’s twin brother, who was injured in the incident.
Mr Quinn’s body was returned to his home in Currynierin yesterday afternoon following the conclusion of post mortem examinations in Belfast.
The remains of the father-of-one will be taken from his home this afternoon for 2.00pm Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Ardmore.
