The car park at Brooke Park Leisure Centre in Derry is to close to the public from this weekend.
The closure is due to the ongoing regeneration of Brooke Park.
Limited car parking provision will be provided at the rear of the new Contact Sports Centre.
Derry City and Strabane Council has asked park and leisure centre users to use alternative modes of transport when visiting the park or car share.
The Council’s Parks Development Manager, Colin Kennedy, said: “Council apologises in advance for any disruption caused while the work is being completed. We would also like to advise the public and park users that the appointed contractor Woodvale Construction Ltd will require more time on site to complete their contract.
“This is largely due to the very inclement weather experienced last winter which has had a knock on impact on the contractor’s schedule. The works programme will now extend closer to the end of June and we really appreciate the cooperation of the public in the delivery of such a major project for the city.”
He said further updates on the progress of work at the site will be issued over the course of the coming months. For more information on the development go to www.derrystrabane.com/brookepark
