Sinn Féin Councillor Sean McGlinchey has condemned the vandals who trashed furniture and the pond and wall at the Environmental Park in Dungiven.
It is understood the vandalism was carried at the weekend.
He said: "This is wanton vandalism and unfortunately it tends to reoccur every time we have a spell of good weather."
Councillor McGlinchey has now called on the local council to take action.
"I will be calling on the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to appoint a warden to help prevent this sort of happening and to also maintain this much neglected but nevertheless well used facility, which after all is the council's responsibility."
Meanwhile, a tidy up of the park area will be held next Saturday (June 11) at 10am and Councillor McGlinchey has urged locals to come out and help. All equipment will be provided.
