News that four of the ten beaches awarded Blue Flag status are in the North has been welcomed by Sinn Fein East Derry Caoimhe Archibald.
Ms Archibald said it was “fantastic” Castlerock, Benone (pictured), Downhill and Portstewart beaches had received the prestigious award.
She added: “"On the north coast we are blessed with our natural heritage and stunning coastline. It is fantastic to have this recognised with the awarding of the Blue Flags.
"The Blue Flag status is an endorsement for the local area. It is good news for the tourism industry and will boost the profile of the north coast.
"Those who are responsible for the upkeep of the beaches must be commended and congratulated for these achievements."
