City legends back at Brandywell in bid to get their hands on Big Noel’s cup

A number of Derry City legends will this afternoon grace the Brandywell for possibly the last time.

With the famous ground set to undergo a multi-pound revamp, not only will the occasion be one last opportunity for the old warriors to return to their battle ground, but the game will also be played in aid of the Pink Ladies Support Group.

The opposition will be provided by the Glentoran Legends.

One of City’s greatest ever players has helped organise the game the winners of which will receive the Noel McBride Memorial Cup.

While the legendary centre-forward Liam Coyle misses out through injury, he said a number of Derry’s greatest ever players will be taking part.

He said: “From Felix Healy to Sean Hargan, we've got Gary Beckett, Ciaran Martin, Eamon Doherty, Paddy McLaughlin. Harry McCourt, Gary Heaney, Jack Keay, Stuart Gauld.”

Today’s game kicks off at 1.30pm.
