Using false ID to get into licensed premises could see you barred and fined £1,000: warn police

Police in Co Derry are warning young people of the serious consequences of using false identification to gain entrance to licensed premises.

The PSNI in Magherafelt say attempting to enter such premises with ID that is known to include false information or ID that belongs to another person is an offence .

A spokesperson said: “Door staff have the right to confiscate the ID, have you barred from the premises and may report you to police for prosecution.”

“You may be prosecuted under Article 60 of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1966 which carries a maximum fine of £1,000.”
