The DUP’s Hilary McClintock (pictured) will become the new Mayor of Derry and Strabane District Council tonight.
She will be presented by the mayoral chain by outgoing First Citizen, Sinn Cllr Elisha McCallion, at the annual general meeting of the Super Council taking place in the Guildhall at 7.00pm.
It will be the first time the mayoral position on the local authority will be held by a woman for third successive year.
At the same meeting, the SDLP’s Jim McKeever will become Deputy Mayor, succeeding the DUP’s Thomas Kerrigan.
