A group of young girls from Derry have qualified for the world final of a motor racing competition.
A team from St Cecilia’s College (pictured above) won the Northern Ireland heat of the Formula 24 competition at Kirkistown race track on Saturday.
The race is organised by the Geenpower Education Trust.
The trust’s objective is to advance education in the subjects of sustainable engineering and technology to young people.
The teams that took part in the Formula 24 competition were given an opportunity to learn about the engineering involved in designing cars – as well as getting the chance to drive cars at speed around a racing track.
The world final will be held later this year.
