An angry motorist has hit out after his car was damaged by a large pothole in a public car park.

The man was forced to buy a new tyre for his car after hitting the pothole (pictured) close to the entrance of a public car park in Magherafelt.

Calling for the pothole to be repaired, the man said given the fact that part of the car park was charged for, he believed it should be ‘properly maintained.’

He said: “It is simply not good enough that potholes are being left untreated right across our district.

“It is especially infuriating that this particular pothole is in a public car park, which charges you for parking.

“Car parks such as these should be properly maintained.

“This is a popular car park, people who work in the town use it to park their cars in during the day.

“It is also used by shoppers and people visiting the nearby chapel.

“Surely, they’re should be money to fill in the pothole to prevent people from causing damage to their cars.

“I am not the only person that has been caught out. I have heard of several others who have damaged their tyres on this pothole.”
