Post offices on the Derry-Donegal border have witnessed brisk business since the result of Thrusday’s European Referendum.
The upsurge in people seeking an Irish passport has been triggered by the uncertainty of what implications Brexit will have for British passport holders.in terms of travel to and from EU countries.
The internet search giant Google has also reported a huge spike in searches for Irish passport applications as news of the UK's decision to leave the EU broke on Friday morning.
It said that the bulk of the searches came from people living in Northern Ireland.
In addition, Google also confirmed that it had recorded the highest-ever search interest in the value of sterling following the result.
