Three new photographic artworks have been unveiled in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) atv Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

The artworks were chosen as part of an Arts Care and ICU open call out for images around the theme of “The Journey of Life through Nature” earlier this year.

The project was made possible with the generosity of the Friends of Altnagelvin.

There was a tremendous response to the Call out with approximately 300 images submitted.

The photographs were chosen by a panel of staff and relatives who these images would create a relaxed and reflective atmosphere in the ward, improving the environment for patient, relatives and staff alike.

Judy Houlahan, chairperson of Arts Care in the Western Trust said art in hospital was “so important” for staff and service user well-being and for creating a positive impact on the health service environment.

She added: “We are delighted with the beautiful images that have been chosen for the Intensive Care Unit and thank everyone who took the time to submit and offer their photographs.”
