Police were called to remove an “abusive” passenger from a plane at City of Derry Airport this morning.
Four officers boarded the 6.55am Ryanair flight from London’s Stansted Airport when it touched down at Eglinton around 8.15am.
Passengers were held on the plane for almost an hour until a female passenger, believed to be in her 30s, was taken from the plane.
It is understood the woman, who was accompanied by a girl aged around 12, made an abusive comment to a member of the cabin crew.
Another passenger on the plane believed the airline “over-reacted.”
She said: “II was sitting five rows behind the woman and did not know anything was wrong until they came on announced that we were to remain in our seats and apologised for ‘the inconvenience.’
“About 10 minutes later, the air stewardess mentioned ‘police.’
“Four police officers came on the plane and asked the woman to go with them.
“It wasn’t a case that the woman was roaring and shouting. Everyone was really shocked at what had happened.”
