Entries now being taken for Culmore Horticultural Society's Annual Show

Entries are now being sought for a local horticultural show.

The Culmore Horticultural Society will hold its annual show at Hollybush Primary School on Saturday, week, August 20.

The show has been running since 1880 and is one of the popular events in the local horticultural calendar.

The event begins at 2pm and organisers are looking for entries in a wide range of categories.

These include flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetable and preserves.

The Junior Children’s Section will feature paintings and drawings with the theme of ‘Boats on the Foyle’, and will also include craft, arrangement of flowers and a birthday card design competition.

The show will also give children the opportunity to try their hand at painting, drawing, wood craft, jewellery and flower arranging.

In the adult photography category, there will two separate sections of ‘human portrait’ for colour photographs and ‘movement’ for black and white photographs.

The maximum size accepted for the photography competition is A4.

Entries will be accepted at Hollybush school on Friday, August 19, between 7pm and 9pm and on the morning of the show between 9am and 10.30am.

Judging will commence at 11am.

Entries cannot be removed from the show until after 3.30pm.

Admission for adults of £3 which includes tea and home-made goodies, while there is no admission charge for children.
