A Derry shop can once again offer a defibrillator following the kind donation of a London-based Good Samaritan.
The Spar store at Church Meadows hit the headlines last month following the destruction of their community funded defibrillator.
It had been thought that the store would have to begin fundraising once again to raise the £1,500 needed to replace the machine.
This is no longer neccesary following the donation of a machine from London policeman, Al Moore.
Mr Moore said he was inspired to donate the defibrilator after becoming aware of the incident on social media.
“I was genuinely gutted for them, so many people over here receive charitable grants and the like to establish defibrillators but somewhere like this, where the local community take pride in coming together to raise money for something like this, I was just gutted to hear about it.”
Store Manager Richard Campbell (pictured above with the new defibrillator) said that the defibrilator being donated was the perfect ending to the story.
“With the likes and shares of the local community Al heard about our story, basically it touched him and he contacted the store and said he had a defibrilator he would like to donate to us,” he told the Derry News.
