Network Personnel in partnership with Draperstown based Glasgowbury is offering a unique chance for young people to learn about D’Jing, sound production and podcasting.
If you are aged 16 to 24 and not in employment (or are working less than 16 hours) this is a great opportunity for you.
This initiative, which is jointly funded by the European Social Fund, the Department for the Economy, Mid Ulster District Council and Workspace, illustrates commitment to partnership working to support young people interested in a career in an employment growth sector.
The training will take place in the Glasgowbury Hub in Draperstown two days per week for four weeks. Free transport is available from across Mid Ulster. It will be very informal and be delivered in small groups. Most of the sessions will be hands on - playing the decks, setting up and using the sound production equipment. Each person completing the course will get a Level 1 qualification and have the chance to progress to Level 2.
Music industry experts and Network Personnel job coaches will be on hand to give advice on the jobs and self-employment opportunities that are available.
Previous participants on the programme are now D’Jing whilst others have had the chance to work with Love.inc and have set up for a Muse concert.
The training will start on Wednesday, September 14 (tomorrow.) No previous experience is required – just an interest in the music industry.
Speaking about the planned training, Ann McBride, Network Personnel said: “Glasgowbury is the ‘hotspot’ organisation for creative talent in Mid Ulster. Teaming with ourselves combines the expertise of both organisations providing skills and experience for the music industry with ‘back to work’ support.”
Network Personnel helps people who are unemployed by offering one to one careers advice, jobsearch skills and qualifications.
