Two Derry acts have been shortlisted for a prestigious music prize.

Twelve albums have made the final cut for the ‘Northern Ireland Music Prize In Association With Blue Moon 2016.’

The local acts are singer Ryan Vail for his album ‘For Every Silence’ and Derry band Ports (pictured) for ‘The Devil is a Songbird.’

The winner will be announced at this special awards night at the Mandela Hall on November 11.

More than 70 judges were contacted from the NI music industry to cast their votes for the best album of the last year, with just 12 making the final cut.

Ports (formerly known as Little Bear) made up of Steven McCool, Ryan Griffiths, Conor Mason and Mark O'Doherty will also play live at the awards night.

Derry singer SOAK scooped the award last year for her album ‘Before We Forgot How To Dream’
