Former Derry unionist councillor to be laid to rest on Monday after his death following a long illness

The funeral of the former local Ulster Unionist councillor Ernie Hamiltion will be held on Monday following his death yesterday.

Mr Hamilton passed away peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital following a long illness.

He was member of the Orange Order and is survived by his wife Mary (pictured above with her late husband), who currently sits as a UUP councillor on Derry City and Strabane District Council.

The funeral will leave his late home 13, Rossdowney Park on Monday 30th April at 12noon followed by a Service of Thanksgiving for his life in Upper Cumber Presbyterian Church, Cregg Road, Claudy at 1pm, with burial afterwards in Upper Cumber Cemetery.
