DERRY 0-12, TYRONE 3-14
Derry’s hopes of winning their first Ulster Senior Football Championship in 18 years were ended by a rampant Tyrone at Celtic Park this afternoon.
Micky Harte’s side, looking to win their 14th Ulster title and their first time since 2010, were out of sight at half time when they led by 11 points on a scoreline of 3-08 to 0-06, the goals coming from Ronan O’Neill (2) and Peter Harte.
Playing for pridc Derry, seeking their eighth Ulster crown, made a better fist of it in the second period, matching visitors 0-06 to 0-06 to see the final scoreline read Derry 0-12, Tyrone 3-14.
The home side had to play the last 20 minutes with 14 men after Ciaran McFaul was shown a second yellow card.
They were reduced to 13 men when captain Chrissy McKeague was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident with five minutes remaining.
Derry manager Damien Barton (pictured) has it all to do to raise his side's moral ahead of the All-Ireland qualifiers.
Tyrone, on the other hand, will play Cavan or Armagh in the Ulster semi-final.
